Clothing Bank
The Good Shepherds in conjunction with Caring for Bethlehem would like to announce the opening of the Clothing Bank
Location: First Lower Level Classroom/Fr. Shellman Hall at the Church of the Nativity
When: Open Each Month: The 2nd Monday, 10:00 am to Noon and The 4th Friday, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Help us help those in need in the adjoining towns with donations of new and/or gently used recently laundered clothing or footwear for men, women and children.  We are also in need of new packaged underwear and socks.
Where:  Donations can be left anytime at the double doors under the eave of Shellman Hall.

Elm Initiative
Our goal is to engage your couples and families in our community with the objective of establishing a lifetime foundation of faith.


Food Bank
Parishioners who will assist in the distribution of food at the Community Services Council of Woodbury food bank located behind Newtown Savings Bank.

Commitment:  Friday’s at 10:40 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for a month-long period.  Members of this ministry assist in transporting food collected by various organizations to the food bank, participate in storage of food at the food bank, and assist with the distribution of food to clients at the food bank.

Rewards:  Helping those in our community who need assistance, with the reminder of what God has given to us and the many blessings for which we should give thanks.


Harvest Now Garden
A non-for-profit charity set up by Brooks Sumberg of Westport and sponsored by Catholic Charities. This program was initiated in 2011 with two raised gardens on the property of the parish office. All the food grown in our garden is donated to our local food bank.

Reward:  The opportunity to reach out to those in need and actively participate in living out the corporal work of mercy be feeding the hungry.


Southbury Training School
Members of this ministry are needed in the following areas:  direct contact with the residents, such as bingo and delivering birthday balloons; leisure companion; gardening. 

Adopt a Cottage: weekly, monthly or quarterly visits for games, seasonal crafts, songs and hobbies; Thrift Shop help.

Commitment:  Very flexible, depending on volunteer’s schedule.

Rewards:  The ministry provides a wonderful opportunity to participate in a variety of activities with the residents.  Experiencing the enthusiasm and simplicity, we come away with a deeper sense of gratitude for the gifts we so often take for granted.


Sandwich Saturday
Come feed the hungry! Please join us at 10 a.m. in Nativity Hall on the first and fourth Saturday’s of the month and in the parish offices on the second and third Saturday's of the month to make sandwiches and/or to drop off donations to St. Vincent DePaul Homeless Shelter Waterbury. Counts for 1 hour of community service for confirmation students.
