Mass for the Second Sunday (Octave) of Easter

If you have a devotion to the Divine Mercy and wish to receive the special graces by going to confession and receiving Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday, but are unable to do so in this time of social separation, you may do the following:

Before Mass, make an Act of Contrition with the firm resolution to have recourse to sacramental Confession as soon as possible.

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you, and I detest all my sins because of your just punishments, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who is all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of your grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.

During Mass, when Father Jim receives the Eucharist himself, make a Spiritual Communion with the intent to return to the sacrament of Holy Communion as soon as possible.

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as though you were already there and unite myself to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen

After Mass, say this prayer:

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Through my Act of Contrition and Spiritual Communion may I receive the grace of complete forgiveness of all my sins. Amen.
